Embarking on an expedition to K2, the second-highest mountain on Earth at 8,611 meters, is a testament to human resilience, determination, and the relentless pursuit of adventure. Nestled in the heart of the Karakoram Range in Pakistan, K2 has long captured the imagination of mountaineers and adventurers from around the globe.

The journey to K2 begins in Skardu, a picturesque town in the Baltistan region of Pakistan. Skardu serves as the gateway to some of the world’s most formidable peaks, including the mighty K2. Surrounded by towering mountains and pristine valleys, Skardu offers a glimpse into the raw beauty and untamed wilderness of the Karakoram.

From Skardu, adventurers embark on a challenging trek through rugged terrain, crossing glaciers, traversing steep slopes, and braving unpredictable weather conditions. The journey to K2 demands physical endurance, mental fortitude, and a deep respect for the forces of nature.

Yet, amidst the hardships and obstacles, there is a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose among fellow climbers. Each step brings them closer to the ultimate goal – to stand atop the summit of K2 and gaze upon the world below with awe and humility.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Islamabad

  • Arrival Islamabad International Airport at Islamabad & transfer to hotel, 
  • Meeting with Liaison Officer and other official procedures. Welcome reception(briefing) at Alpine Club of Pakistan.or Ministry of Tourism at Skardu for briefing, City tours of Islamabad (King Shah Faisal Mosque Damanekoh.

Day 2Skardu / Chilas

 

  • Domestic flight Islamabad to Skardu.
  • Fly to Skardu PK-451 (Flight is subject to weather). Upon arrival transfer to  Upon arrival transfer to In case of cancellation of flight (13-14 hrs) drive by coach to Chilas  (480 km) on Karakoram Highway.
  • Rest and acclimatization in Skardu.

Day 3Skardu to Base Camp

  • Day free at Skardu.
  • If you are driving, complete road journey (10-11 hrs) to Skardu (275 km) . En-route has good view of Nanga Parbat (8125m) at junction of Indus River and the rapids and fall of Indus River.

Day 4-30Skardu (3000M)

Full day for official formalities and final preparation at Skardu.

Day 31Skardu to Askoli & Jula: (3200-m)

After Breakfast early morning to start for jula camp by jeep  drive  (9-10 hrs).  Askoli would be the lunch point,which is last end village of Braldo valley, also Askoli was the starting point of expeditions and treks before 2019 and ever,so now it has developed road by Army and the camp moving direct throug Paju within one two years.

Day 32Jula-Paiyu: (3600m)

Start on a relatively easy trail for 3-4 hrs. Crossing Bardumal campsites along a 2-km stretch of sandy River beach. After a lunch break continue towards Paiyu for another 2-3 hrs. trail climbs to a Vantage Point providing view of the Snout of Baltoro. And in the far distance a magnificent Panorama of Cathedral Towers and triangle of K2 to the left for the first time. Paiyu is a crowded campsite

Day 33Paju-Urdukas: (4200-M)

Start for a 8-10 hrs. Gradual climb up Baltoro Glacier on the southern edge. After about two hours the path divides at the snout of Baltoro glacier where the left branch goes to the BC of Tango Tower and the Sarpo Lago pass. Continue to the right climbing up on to the glacier that stretches up the valley 62 km long and 2 km wide. Further 2-3 hours’ steady climb on a long diagonal to the other side. 3 hours walk mostly along the crest of lateral moraine with stunning views of Paiyu Peak, Chorichi, UliBiaho, Trango Towers and so on. Urdukas is a spectacular campsite. However, like Paiyu this site is over used and polluted..

Rest Day at Urdukas Camp

Full day Rest photo grapy and acclimatize day

Traditional rest day at urdokas for local exploration.

Enjoy the traditional music program and dancing by the local porters. Overnight at tent

Goro II: (4500m)

6-8 hours walk on the glacier. The first hour walk is across difficult side crevasses, however the way is smoother and easy in the center. Continue for 2-3 hours to Goro-I opposite of Yermanendo Glacierfalling down from the Masherbrum pass. For the next 3-4 hrs continue east up the Baltoro glacier. Following telephone wire from army HQ Goro to Gasherbrum IV. Goro-II campsite is pitched on the rough stones and ice in the center of the glacier with water from the glacier melt..

Broad Peak Base Camp (4880m)

8-9hours slightly easy walk towards Concordia, with spectacular views and gigantic mountain panorama, including Muztagh Tower, Gasherbrum IV, Mitre Peak and the mighty K2. Concordia named by Martin Conway after the place De La Concordia in Paris. After having lunch at Concordia 3-4 hours walk. Broad

Base Camp

K-2 Base Camp: (5045m)

2-3hours walk to  K-2 Base Camp

39 days for acclimatization and climbing  K-2 Base Camp.

Trek back to Gore 2 (8-10 hrs.)

Trek to Khuburtze (7-8 hrs)

Trek to Paiyu (5-6 hrs).

Trek to Askol. (8-9 hrs).. 

Drive to Skardu (6-7 hrs.)

Islamabad/Chilas

Fly to Islamabad PK-451(Subject to weather). Upon arrival transfer to hotel.

In case of flight cancellation drive to Chilas. Overnight at hotel.

Islamabad

Day at leisure. Overnight at hotel.

In case of driving, complete road journey from Chilas to Islamabad. Overnight at hotel.

Transfer to airport for your return flight home.

  • Insurance: Participants are required to have adequate travel insurance, including coverage for medical emergencies, evacuation, and trip cancellation. Proof of insurance may be requested before departure.
